Autumn Mist Jefferson is an actor, singer, improv artist, and educator based in New England. She earned her BA in Performing Arts with a concentration in Musical Theatre from Rhode Island College in 2022. Since then, Autumn has cultivated a deep passion for storytelling and creative expression, always striving to explore a wide range of artistic disciplines and continuing to expand her repertoire.
In 2022-2023, Autumn was selected for The Gamm Fellowship Program, an experience that deepened her connection to the theatrical community and helped her refine her skills. This opportunity led her to a meaningful role at the Gamm Theatre, where she now works as the Education Associate and Fellowship Coordinator. In this position, Autumn is involved in advising newly graduated artists of color, developing educational initiatives, and nurturing a love of theatre among students of all ages.
Autumn’s improv work reflects her versatility, with performances that include musical improv at Kismet in Pawtucket and long-form murder mysteries at the Contemporary Theatre Company. She has also contributed to Black and Funny, a platform that showcases Black voices and perspectives through improv. These experiences have helped Autumn develop a quick wit, sharpen her instincts, and connect with audiences in meaningful ways. One of Autumn’s primary objectives is to help make theatre a safer, more diverse, and inclusive space through the transformative power of improv.
As a Miranda Family Fellow from 2022 to 2024, Autumn is part of a group of artists supported by the Miranda Family Fund, which focuses on advancing the careers of underrepresented artists. Her involvement in this fellowship reflects her ongoing commitment to using her artistry as a means for change and representation in the arts.
Most recently, Autumn portrayed John Adams in the Contemporary Theatre Company’s production of 1776, where she brought depth and nuance to a complex historical figure on stage..
